Lagos Agog as the Janggu Drums Festival Grand Finale Holds Today at J. Randle Centre

The drums are rolling, and Lagos is ready!

The Grand Finale and Janggun Competition of the Janggun Drums Festival 2026 will take place today at the magnificent J. Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture and History, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The day’s activities will include an engaging Drum Seminar and Museum Tour, followed by the much-anticipated Janggu Competition Grand Finale from 1:00 p.m.

The festival brings together the vibrant traditions of Korean Janggun drums and Yoruba culture, further strengthening the growing cultural ties between Nigeria and South Korea.

With spectacular performances, cultural displays and exciting drumming competitions, it promises to be a memorable celebration of music, heritage, friendship and cultural exchange.

I am delighted and honoured to have been invited as a Special Guest, in my capacity as the Founder/Festival Director of the African Indigenous Language Film Festival (AILFF).
